Smith celebrates banning of Pride flags in letter to fellow Republicans

Jennifer Smith, chairperson of the Livingston County GOP, celebrated the banning of Pride flags from the Fowlerville Community Schools District in a letter to her fellow Republicans today.

In her “Message from the Chair,” Smith called the adoption of a policy that essentially banned Pride flags a “milestone moment of 2023 of ‘ideology politics.'”

Smith also claimed that those speaking out against the policy during the three-hour call to the public at the Fowlerville Community Schools Board of Education meeting July 18 were out-of-towners. (You can read our coverage of the contentious meeting by clicking here.)

“What we … witnessed was what we have seen time and time again: outrageous left extremists from multiple counties rally to Livingston County to attack our school boards and misrepresent our communities,” Smith wrote.

At least that’s what we think she wrote. The letter Smith sent to her fellow county Republicans was so riddled with typos that it was difficult to read.
