U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin is asking Michiganders to share information on their health care costs for the upcoming year. Premiums are expected to increase because of the passage of President Donald Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, which was signed into law on July 4.
“The Trump Administration has created a health care crisis, with every single Michigander either losing their health care or paying more than they already have,” Slotkin said. “Starting this month, individuals will start receiving letters from their insurance providers about how much their 2026 plans will cost.”
When those letters arrive, Slotkin is asking Michiganders to share them with her (with names and personal information blacked out). She’s set up an online form for submitting information.
In addition to submitting their insurance rate letters, Slotkin asks that people share their stories let her know how their health care is being affected.
Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, which was signed into law on July 4. Most of the changes under the legislation go into effect on Jan. 1, 2026. Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill did not extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium subsidies, which will expire at the end of the year unless Congress passes a new extension.
