Calling President Donald Trump’s just-passed Big Beautiful Bill, “bad for Michigan, and bad for working Americans,” Sen. Elissa Slotkin hosted a tele-town hall Tuesday to field questions from 50,000 concerned residents across the state.

‘The bill cuts healthcare or will likely make your insurance more expensive,” Slotkin said. “It cuts food assistance to seniors, veterans, and children. It makes higher education less affordable for families. And it will likely increase your electricity bills.”

Slotiin voted against the bill, which passed 51-50 on July 3, with Vice President J.D. Vance having to break the tie. Trump signed the bill into law on July 4.

“The bill does all of this primarily to make tax cuts permanent for the wealthiest tax brackets,” Slotkin said. “There are a few tax promises for for middle class folks, but these are temporary, and will expire in just three years.”
