The Brighton High School Leadership Class raised a record-breaking $55,000 for the Trinity Health Livingston Cancer in Brighton.

Every year, the Brighton High School Leadership Class organizes a week-long, city-wide fundraiser for the Trinity Health Cancer Center in Brighton, and this year the class raised nearly $55,000, breaking all of their previous records.

U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Lansing, talked to the class about leadership, took questions from the class, and presented the students and teacher Kelly Armstrong with a Congressional Tribute in recognition of their efforts. Also on hand were Brighton High School Principal Gavin Johnson, and Brighton Area Schools Superintendent Matt Outlaw.

“These young people aren’t just learning about how to be a future leader,” Slotkin said. “They’re finding ways to use their time and talents to better the world today.”

Two of Slotkin’s interns in Washington, D.C., this past semester — Alexis Moskowitz and Noah Purdy — are Brighton High School graduates, and Moskowitz is also a past BHS Leadership student.
