U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Lansing, is taking advantage of her huge fund-raising advantage over state Sen. Tom Barrett, R-Charlotte, to launch “Work With Us,” her first TV ad of the race for Michigan’s 7th Congressional district. This first salvo of the general election highlights Slotkin’s career of service to her country, and her belief that mid-Michiganders are best served by elected leaders who prioritize working together to find bipartisan solutions to the issues discussed around the kitchen table.

The spot — which features Slotkin standing in front of Lansing’s iconic smokestacks — began airing on 7th district broadcast and cable outlets this morning. (The newly drawn 7th District includes all of Livingston, Ingham, Clinton and Shiawassee counties, as well as a majority of Eaton County and small portions of Oakland and Genesee counties; the new district also includes the state capital of Lansing.)

“Serving in Congress allows me to continue serving the country I love,” Slotkin says in the ad. “I refuse to let partisan politics hold this country back. Because when we put our heads down and work together, there’s no problem we can’t solve.”

Slotkin closes by saying: “Work with us.”

The Lugar Center ranked Slotkin as the most bipartisan member of the Michigan congressional delegation and the 9th-most bipartisan member of the entire U.S. House.

Slotkin reports taking in $1.5 million in the second quarter of 2022, and she has $6.5 million cash on hand. Barrett’s first-quarter haul left him with less than $400,000 on hand.
