A six-vehicle crash at Highland Road (M-59) and Hacker Road in Hartland Township on the morning of Feb. 1, 2020, resulted in several minor injuries, according to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation reveals that a 2004 GMC Sierra driven by a 33-year-old Howell man was westbound when he failed to stop for the red light. His vehicle struck a 2008 Buick Enclave, driven by a 46-year-old Durand woman, that was stopped northbound in the intersection, waiting to turn left onto Highland Road. After the initial impact, the 2004 GMC Sierra lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided with four additional vehicles that were stopped eastbound for the traffic light.

The intersection was closed for approximately one hour for extensive debris cleanup. A citation was issued to the at-fault driver for careless driving and operating without insurance.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Livingston County EMS, Howell Area Fire Department, and the Michigan State Police.
