Two men believed to be in the U.S. without documentation were arrested on April 23 by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to ICE agents for processing after a sting operation by an online group that works to expose child abusers.
According a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Audrey Rae Lane near Latson Road in Genoa Township on a complaint of a suspicious person. When they arrived, they met with members of the Bikers Against Predators group.
Group members told deputies that they were at that location trying to identify who had reached out to one of their decoys on social media. They told the deputies that they had clearly stated they were 13 years old, and that the conversation continued over text messaging and became explicit in nature, and the subject asked the decoy to meet up with them at that location for sex.
The Bikers Against Predators members told deputies that they had identified two Hispanic males as the subject or subjects with whom they were communicating. Deputies reviewed the conversations and detained both males, who were transported to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. A translator was provided and statements were taken, according to the release, which said both males are believed to be in the U.S. illegally, and both have been turned over to ICE agents for processing.
The incident remains under investigation.
