The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the public in finding information about a small, gray compact sedan that caused a rollover accident on southbound U.S. 23 south of Highland Road at about 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20.

The preliminary investigation concluded that the small, gray compact sedan was attempting to pass on the left shoulder. A pickup truck pulling a travel trailer heading southbound in the left lane tried to merge into the right lane to avoid colliding with the gray sedan, which swerved into the left lane, struck the front driver corner of the pickup, and caused it to lose control.

The pickup truck was forced off the roadway to the outside of the right shoulder; it went down the embankment, and rolled over. The gray sedan did not stop at the scene of the crash and continued south on U.S. 23.

A family of four in the pickup truck was returning from a camping trip. They suffered minor injuries in the rollover, and they were released at the scene by Livingston County EMS.

The incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with any information, or who may have witnessed the accident, are asked to contact Deputy Uzoni at (517) 546-2440, ext. 4842.
