Second Chance Support Network Ministries was awarded a $25,000 grant from the Michigan Nonprofit Relief Fund, established by the Michigan Nonprofit Association and the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity from the Michigan Nonprofit Relief Fund. It will use the grant to expand its mentoring program.
“Thanks to the generous grant we received from the Michigan Nonprofit Relief Fund, Second Chance Support Network Ministries is thrilled to expand our impact in Livingston County,” said Jennifer Bigelow, executive director of Second Chance Support Network Ministries. “Our organization offers vital resources and mentoring programs to returning citizens in our community, helping them successfully reintegrate and thrive. As the sole organization in Livingston County providing these unique services and programs for returning citizens, we are immensely grateful for this grant.”
The $35 million Michigan Nonprofit Relief Fund was created from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds awarded to the State of Michigan to support Michigan-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits with annual revenues of less than $1 million with demonstrated necessary expenditures and losses incurred after March 3, 2021, due to the pandemic. The fund was designed with special attention to under-served and under-represented populations, including nonprofits in rural areas and those led by and serving, Black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities disproportionately affected by the pandemic.
Michigan-based nonprofits applied to the Michigan Nonprofit Relief Fund in the spring of 2023. A panel of Michigan nonprofit leaders reviewed applications in the summer and a total of 1,373 awardees were selected this fall.
