The Hartland High School Drama Club’s production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” takes the stage at the high school April 20-22 and April 27-29. From now until opening night, we’ll be introducing you to members of the production.

Scottie Bell loved Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” as a child; she followed the stage musical when it came out; and she and was excited to audition for the Hartland High School Drama Club production. She’ll be seen on stage as the gypsy Clopin Trouillefou.

The Hartland High School sophomore, whose inspirations are Cher and Stevie Nicks, is the daughter of Mary Jo and Randy Bell, and she has two older siblings.

“I have been in many other productions over the past 11 years,” Bell said. “My favorite roles include the Cowardly Lion in ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ the Dragon in ‘Shrek, Jr.,’ and Cogsworth in ‘Beauty and the Beast.’”

Bell is looking forward to “being on stage, especially when everyone else is out there and we all tell this story together.”

Her favorite part of this production of “Hunchback”? “It’s hard to pick a favorite part,” Bell said, “but I always look forward to the Tavern Song. It’s so high-energy and fun.”

Bell enjoys reading and writing, and, of course, singing and acting. And she is looking forward to taking to the stage with “Hunchback.”

“This show is unlike anything the Hartland Drama Club has done before,” Bell said.

Shows are April 20-22 and April 27-29 at Hartland High School, 10635 Dunham Road, Hartland. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday shows are at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for students/seniors, and can be purchased at http://hartlanddramaclub.weebly.com/ or at the door.
