Say it ain’t so, Joe: The Livingston Post blocked from Hune’s Twitter feed

Blockage (2)UPDATE: Click here for an update to this post.

The Livingston Post is blocked from viewing the Twitter feed of state Sen. Joe Hune, who represents Michigan’s 22nd District, which includes all of Livingston County and western Washtenaw County.

It doesn’t make sense that Hune would block a member of Livingston County’s media corps (maybe someone with access to the account accidentally blocked us?). To us, it’s rather strange. But we are blocked, nonetheless.

Here’s what Twitter says about blocking:

“Twitter gives users a variety of tools to control their experience, including blocking. When your account is blocked by another user on Twitter, we limit your account’s ability to interact with that user.

If you visit the profile of a user that has blocked your account, you will not be able to see that user’s Tweets or other account information.”

So thoroughly confused by all this, we sent an email to Hune’s office earlier this week, asking why we are blocked. We’ve not yet received a reply.

We also considered that this may not be Hune’s official, state-senator Twitter feed. But in the account’s profile photo, Hune is dressed in a jacket, shirt and tie, and positioned in front of an American flag. And we can’t find any other Joe Hune Twitter feeds, so we’re guessing it’s his official, state-senator Twitter account.

We checked with our Livingston County colleagues and found that The Livingston Daily Press & Argus has access to Hune’s Twitter feed, as does Radio Station 93.5 FM-WHMI.

We have no idea why we are blocked from Hune’s Twitter feed.

This is all particularly baffling because The Livingston Post hasn’t run any pieces that were particularly critical of the senator. We’d sure like to know what Hune says on social media — he is, after all, our state senator — so we’re crossing our fingers that he lifts the block on us sometime soon.

We’ll keep you in the loop.
