Former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers is apparently no longer under consideration to head the FBI. Dan Scavino, a top advisor to President-Elect Donald Trump, wrote that Rogers heading the FBI is “not happening.”
Rogers, a former FBI agent who served seven terms in Congress, previously chaired the House Intelligence Committee. He reportedly met with the Trump transition team at Mar-a-Lago last week.
Rogers, who had Trump’s endorsement but narrowly lost the race to succeed retiring U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow to U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, had campaigned with Trump at various events in Michigan, including the “Crime and Safety” event in Livingston County in August.
