There’s been a major development in the scandal involving Livingston County District Court Judge Theresa Brennan. The Lansing news outlet MIRS is reporting that the Judicial Tenure Commission has filed a formal complaint against Brennan. Depending on the outcome of the complaint, the JTC has the authority to remove Brennan from office.
MIRS reported that “the 69-page complaint also includes allegations of misconduct during Brennan’s depositions in her divorce proceeding and having staff do personal tasks on work time.”
The JTC has been investigating Brennan’s conduct for about a year. The action today follows the filing of a petition for a grand jury investigation by retired Circuit Court Judge Daniel A. Burress, and calls for her resignation in recent days by state Sen. Joe Hune, state Rep. Lana Theis, state Rep. Hank Vaupel and a majority of the Livingston County Board of Commissioners.
