Livingston Regional SWAT arrested a 32-year-old Brighton Township man with a criminal history on Monday, Oct. 9, after he threatened his 57-year-old neighbor with a hammer.
According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a felonious assault complaint in the 5000 block of Knowlson Drive in Brighton Township at about 4:20 p.m. Monday. After they arrived, deputies tried several methods of contacting the 32-year-old resident with no success. Considering the offense and the suspect’s known criminal history, the Livingston County Regional Crisis Negotiation Team and Livingston Regional SWAT were called in to assist.
After more failed attempts to contact the suspect, a search warrant was obtained and the SWAT team entered the home and arrested the 32-year-old man, who remains lodged at the Livingston County Jail. No injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation.
