Meghan Reckling, current chairperson of the Livingston County Republican Party, will continue to serve as chief of staff for state Sen. Lana Theis, R-Brighton. It had been rumored that Reckling would be stepping down from the county GOP, but no change in leadership has been announced yet.
In a release announcing her staffing for the 102nd Legislature, Theis said Theresa Grace will continue to serve as constituent relations director and veterans affairs coordinator, and Daniel Waun is joining as director of communications and legislative affairs.
“My team is eager and excited for the opportunity to continue serving the residents of the 22nd Senate District, and we welcome residents’ questions, concerns and ideas about the issues impacting their lives and communities,” said Theis, R-Brighton. “I am pleased to welcome Dan to my team as we continue to fight for the families, children and hardworking men and women of the 22nd Senate District and those throughout our great state.”
Waun has more than 15 years’ experience serving in various roles in the legislative and executive branches of state government, for a nonprofit and in the private sector focusing primarily on communications. Waun holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Western Michigan University.
Reckling has served under Theis since 2015 and has nearly 20 years of legislative experience. In addition to fulfilling her duties as chief of staff, Reckling will also handle scheduling for the senator.
Grace has been with Theis since 2019 and will continue serving the people as constituent relations director and serving the district’s military veterans. She previously served under former Sen. Joe Hune for eight years.
The senator’s office is in the Senate’s Binsfeld Office Building, Suite 7400, located at 201 Townsend St. in Lansing.
