Meghan Reckling

Meghan Reckling, chair of the Livingston County Republican Party, is one of 24 people participating as Fellows in the 2023 Michigan Political Leadership Class at Michigan State University.

In a bipartisan learning environment, the diverse group of 24 individuals from across the state — 10 of whom identify as Republicans, 10 as Democrats, and 4 as political independents — will engage in a public policy and leadership curriculum. The 10-month program incorporates practical politics, public policy analysis and process, personal leadership development, and effective governance.

Founded in 1992, the program is managed by the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research at MSU. Over the past 30 years, over half of the program’s 700 grads have gone on to be elected or appointed to positions in government.

“I am extremely honored and grateful for the opportunity to participate as a Fellow in the 2023 MPLP Class,” Reckling said.

When she graduates, Reckling will join an impressive and diverse list of MPLP alums who serve in tribal, federal, state and local government, including Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson; U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell; state Rep. Ann Bollin; and Livingston Educational Service Agency Superintendent Mike Hubert.

Reckling, who currently serves as Chief of Staff to state Sen. Lana Theis, is a graduate of Michigan State University, where she studied political science.
