Meghan Reckling, chair of the Livingston County Republican Party and chief of staff for state Sen. Lana Theis, is running for the new 3rd district seat on the Livingston County Board of Commissioners.
The newly drawn district includes Iosco, Unadilla, and Putnam townships, as well as Handy Township precincts 1 and 6.
Reckling filed her paperwork to be on the ballot for the Aug. 2 primary election.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to run for the County Commission to provide a strong voice for the people of western Livingston County and to work with diverse groups of individuals to deliver the results people expect from their public servants. Make no mistake, we will hit the ground running,” Reckling said in a release.
“As this campaign moves forward, I pledge to maintain my uncompromising commitment to the hardworking taxpayers to preserve and promote Livingston County as an ideal place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Reckling and her husband, Mark Reckling, a law enforcement officer, reside in Handy Township with their two children. In addition to being chair of the county Republican Party and working for Theis, Reckling also operates a small business, serves on the Board of Directors for the Livingston County Foundation, and is active in the community through many different community and benevolent organizations.
