Sharing is caring!

A free, eight-week educational program for family, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions is set to begin Monday, March 23, in Room 127 of Brighton First United Methodist Church, 400 E. Grand River Ave.

The Family-to-Family Education Program through the National Alliance on Mental Illness helps improve the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to someone with a mental health condition. The program is taught by NAMI-trained family members, and includes presentations, discussions, and interactive exercises.

Participants will learn to solve problems and communicate effectively, to care for themselves and manage stress, to support their loved ones with compassion, and to find and use local supports and services.

The program runs 6:30-9 p.m. on Mondays from March 23 to May 18, with no class on April 6. There will also be a pizza party on June 1.

While there is no charge to attend, registration is required. To register, or to ask any questions, call (517) 416-9145 or email michstory@yahoo.com to sign up.
