Emmalynn Wheaton of Brighton has been named the new executive director of the Hartland Area Chamber of Commerce, succeeding Katie Chuba, who resigned for another position last month.
Wheaton, who had been the executive director of the Detroit Polo Club in Hartland since 2014, helped Chuba establish the chamber’s Hartland Polo Classic in 2017. Since then, the event has grown into one of the premier see-and-be-seen events in Livingston County.
Wheaton, who began playing polo while a student at Michigan State University, is a certified polo instructor through the United States Polo Association.
In a Facebook post announcing her new position, Wheaton said she looks forward to building on all the successes of the Hartland Area Chamber over the past 25 years.
“It is an extraordinary honor to have the opportunity to lead the Chamber in engaging the community, our membership, local government leadership and community partners to fully realize our shared vision for a prosperous Hartland Business Community,” Wheaton said.
