Pinckney’s La Vita Bistro, the popular downtown Italian restaurant, has closed its doors.

Reports on social media say the restaurant owners informed employees on Monday that the restaurant was shutting down, and a for-sale sign went up in the front window.

La Vita Bistro had been a highly popular eatery since opening its doors a few years ago, serving upscale Italian food.

La Vita Bistro opened in 2011 in the site that formerly was home to the Lakes Grill.

UPDATE: La Vita Bistro posted this note on its Facebook page this morning: “La Vita Bistro would like to thank the community, our guests and employees for the many great years they shared with us. We have unfortunately decided to close our doors. It was a very hard decision, but something we felt we had to do. We truly hope the next business that fills the space becomes a new staple in the beautiful downtown!”
