Officer Jeff Garrison, left, will be taking over the reins of the Pinckney Police Department from Chief Jeff Newton, who is retiring in June.

After 10 years of service, Pinckney Police Chief Jeffrey Newton is retiring — his last day of active duty will be Thursday, June 16, 2022.

Newton has been Pinckney’s police chief since April 2012. Prior to that, Newton spent 25 years with the Detroit Police Department and the Fraser Department of Public Safety.

Newton will be succeeded by Jeffrey Garrison, who is currently a part-time officer with the Pinckney Police Department.

Garrison comes to the Pinckney Police Department after retiring from the Dearborn Police Department, where he served for 28 years in virtually every capacity; he retired as Lieutenant, overseeing the Detective Bureau. He has a master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University, and is a graduate of EMU’s School of Police Staff and Command.
