Livingston County will soon have another football player at the University of Michigan.
Charlie Lovell of Pinckney, a lineman who was one of the top players in Livingston County this season, announced his commitment to the Wolverines on social media this morning. Lovell was offered a spot on the roster by coach Jim Harbaugh as a preferred walk-on, meaning he won’t be on scholarship but is guaranteed a spot on the roster.
A 6-4, 245-pounder, Lovell had a team-high 87 tackles for Pinckney this season. He had scholarship offers from a host of other schools, including Air Force, but chose to play for the Wolverines.
Lovell will be following in the footsteps of his father, Erik, who was a kicker at Michigan in the early 1990s. Lovell’s older brother, Luke, is a quarterback for Albion College, and will compete to be the starter this coming season as a sophomore.
Lovell is following in a long line of Livingston County standouts who have played at Michigan, including Brighton’s Drew Henson, Clint Copenhaver, Dave Pearson and Eric Warner.
