Sharing is caring!

Ask anyone in need of a helping hand, and they will tell you that navigating well-meaning social service agencies and government departments is often a challenge, especially in Livingston County, where in 2022, 15.1% of families with children were living below the federal poverty level, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Communities Survey.

Fowlerville-based The Community Giving Barn serves a special role year-round in serving rural families throughout mid-Michigan. Over the holidays, the organization matches sponsors and families to ensure that no child goes without a gift. This year, it is matching over 75 individual and business donors and sponsors with over 200 children in need.

Individuals and businesses interested in sponsoring a family this year can apply at http://www.thegivingbarn.com.  Applications for families in need will be opening in November, and will also be available at the website and social media platforms.

Founded in 2018, The Community Giving Barn works to bridge gaps in serves to families in need by connecting them to resources. Over 500 families in Livingston, Ingham and Shiawassee counties were served in 2022.
