Livingston County Veteran Services is hosting an open house from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 30, as a lead up to the Fourth of July, and to celebrate the service of veterans. The event, which is open for veterans and their family members, is set for the LCVS building at 1420 Lawson Drive, next to the Michigan Secretary of State’s office in Howell.

There will be nationally accredited Veteran Service Officers on hand, and attendees can learn more about the benefits they have earned.

Also on hand will be veteran-owned food vendors; Shaka Cafe and “Great Tasting Dogs” will be on site; and Peacemakers is donating a $600 gift basket that will be given away in a free drawing for those who have a DD214, which is an official document issued by the Department of Defense to service members when they retire from active military service.
