Authorities say driving too fast for wet road conditions caused a 25-year-old Saginaw woman to lose control of her 2006 Jeep Commander on northbound US-23 south of White Lake Road in Tyrone Township at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18.
According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the driver said a semi-truck next to her shifted in its lane, and she moved to the left a little when she lost control of the Jeep and spun out on the roadway; the Jeep continued off the roadway and through the media before striking the cable barrier separating the highway, overturning and coming to rest on its tires in the median.
The driver, who was wearing her seat-belt, complained of minor injury; she was treated by EMS, but refused to be transported, as did her front-seat passenger, a 30-year-old Saginaw resident.
The rear-seat passenger, a 60-year-old Saginaw resident who was not restrained, suffered serious injury and was transported by Livingston County Ambulance to Genesys Hospital for treatment.
The inside lane of northbound US-23 was closed for approximately 2-1/2 hours for investigation and cleanup. The crash remains under investigation by the Livingston County Major Crash Team.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Livingston County Ambulance, Fenton Fire Department, and Michigan Department of Transportation.
