A single-vehicle rollover crash on Oak Grove Road south of Barron Road in Howell Township claimed the life of a 26-year-old Bancroft resident.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:47 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2020. The preliminary investigation reveals that the Bancroft resident, driving a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was attempting to pass another vehicle before losing control, leaving the roadway to the left and going into a ditch, overturning and striking multiple utility boxes and a tree.

The driver and the passenger were wearing their seatbelts. The passenger sustained minor injuries, while the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Oak Grove Road was closed for approximately two hours while deputies investigated.

According to the release, speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

Deputies were assisted on the scene by the Howell Area Fire Department, Livingston County Ambulance, and the Michigan State Police.
