At about 3:54 p.m. Saturday, June 20, a 56-year-old Westland resident traveling east on I-96 near Nicholson Road in Handy Township lost control of a 1994 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, leaving the roadway to his left. The driver then lost control and overturned the motorcycle in the median.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Livingston County EMS.

The driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident.

Deputies of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were assisted on scene by the Fowlerville Fire Department and Livingston County Ambulance.
