Google Analytics has spoken: January 2018 ranks as the biggest month ever for The Livingston Post, racking up 173,259 page views.

The site got so many page views in January that it crashed not once, but twice, under the weight of some incredibly popular posts. After the second crash, it became apparent that the site needed to move to a larger, faster server, a move that was completed last week. Now, The Livingston Post resides on its very own server.

This local community information and opinion site began in 2009 by some of the journalists laid off from The Livingston County Daily Press & Argus by Gannett Corp. Since then, the site grew modestly until 2015, when editor and publisher Maria Stuart took on the project full time.

From 2015 to 2016, the site grew a whopping 142 percent, and from 2016-2017, the site grew another 22 percent, for a total of 795,000 page views.

The site is on track to smash through that record this year.

In addition to all those page views and readers, The Livingston Post welcomed new advertisers, and it added some popular features, including the best community calendar around, and a community directory.

Our goals for this year include expanding coverage of our community, adding more of Livingston County’s best writers, and growing those numbers; we’re crossing our fingers in the hopes of reaching the 1-million-page-view threshold later this year.

There are lots of opportunities to be part of the site and help support it. If you’re a small business, there’s no more efficient and cost-effective way to reach Livingston County. If you’d like to sponsor the Community Calendar, you can do so for just $25/month or $300/year. If you’d like to take advantage of our display advertising, you can check out our rates by clicking here. And if you’d like to get in on our community directory for as little as $10 a month, click here.
