Light of the World Montessori Preschool in Pinckney is offering a new “Early-3’s” preschool program for children who don’t need to be potty-trained before they start school.

The school is located at Shalom Lutheran Church in Pinckney, 1740 E. M-36, and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

Light of the World Montessori Preschool is holding an open house for all of its programs on Aug. 18 from 4-6 p.m. Parents can bring their children, tour the school, meet the teachers and get more information at that time. The preschool takes students from ages 2 1/2 to 5 for its Montessori program.

The new Light of the World Montessori Preschool Early-3’s program allows children to start school when they’re two-and-a-half years old no matter what their potty-training status is.

“This program allows the very young child to have the Montessori experience without the pressure of being potty-trained before they’re developmentally ready,” said school founder and director Kathy Moorehouse. “Early exposure to a carefully prepared Montessori environment helps the child with socialization and many developmental milestones.”

The school is also offering a flexible schedule which will allow parents to sign their students up for two, three or five days a week, either half days or full days.

Light of the World Montessori Preschool opened in the fall of 2002 and has become one of the premiere preschool programs in the area.
