American Legion Devereaux Post 141 announces formation of the Howell Veterans Association, a subsidiary of American Legion Devereaux Post 141 in Howell, Mich. The HVA is comprised of one representative from each of the units and organizations within the Post 141 building, creating a combined joint group with the purpose of fundraising for American Legion Devereaux Post 141.

Howell Veterans Association has been organized to engage in fundraising activities on behalf of American Legion Devereaux Post 141 for the charitable endeavors done by American Legion Devereaux Post 141 for Active Duty and Veteran members of all branches of the United States Military.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, Howell Veterans Association anticipates receiving additional gifts and grants on behalf of American Legion Devereaux Post 141 from donors seeking tax deductible status. These gifts and grants will be used by the American Legion Deveraux Post 141, to provide assistance to active military members, injured veterans, surviving spouses and children, and for events that honor and promote recognition of active, veteran and deceased members of our armed forces. Fundraising will also be done as needed for expansion of facilities as the membership of the American Legion and its affiliated organizations increase (moved from paragraph below).

One activity currently in the works is a game called King of Clubs, scheduled for June 6.  The concept is that people buy a ticket for $1, which is put into a basket, with one ticket drawn each Friday evening. The winning drawn ticket holder gets to choose a numbered envelope from the wall display, each of which contains a playing card.

This is a progressive jackpot with the person that finally selects the King of Clubs card being the jackpot winner. Tickets are available at the American Legion Devereaux Post 141 at 3265 W. Grand River Ave. in Howell.

The HVA is also in the planning stages of a premium kick-off fundraising event to introduce the organization to the community.  More details about this event will become available as time progresses.
