An accident at approximately 2:52 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2023, near the Middle Town Market in Genoa Township, claimed the life of a 38-year-old Milford man on a motorcycle.

According to a preliminary report from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the Milford man was on a 1985 Honda motorcycle and heading east on Grand River Avenue when he hit a 2012 Dodge Ram, driven by a 20-year-old Howell man, as it exited the Middle Town Market.

The motorcycle driver was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he died. The man driving the truck was uninjured, as was his passenger, a 22-year-old Howell woman.

According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. The driver of the truck was wearing a seat belt; the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Grand River Avenue was closed for about 2-1/2 hours for investigation and clean up. Deputies were assisted by Michigan State Police, Livingston County EMS, and the Brighton Area Fire Department.

The accident remains under investigation.
