A baby was born in the parking of the Green Oak Township Costco on Saturday, March 25.
According to news reports, the Green Oak Township Fire Department and Livingston County EMS arrived to the parking at about 1:30 p.m. and assisted with the delivery.
The mother and father were on their way to the hospital but pulled into the Costco parking lot because they felt the birth was imminent. After the birth, mom and baby — gender unknown — were transported to a local hospital via ambulance. There were no complications with the birth, officials said.
“This is an unusual situation, but we’re just glad mom and baby were doing well and we got them to the hospital,” Green Oak Fire Deputy Chief Tracy Chamberlain is quoted as saying.
While there was no comment from the Costco store manager, we’d like to suggest that the baby receive a lifelong membership to the store.
