Where the Ugly Naked Guy used to stand is just the base that kept him at the entrance to Brighton’s Mill Pond.
In what appears to have been a clean break, the Ugly Naked Guy has vanished; people are starting to talk about it, so we put one of our crack reporters on the case.
Here’s what we’ve learned: Brighton’s iconic Ugly Naked Guy (aka Decision Pending) hasn’t been run out of town. He hasn’t escaped. He hasn’t grown tired of being dressed and decorated. And he hasn’t been stolen.
The statue, which has stood at the entrance to the Mill Pond in downtown Brighton since May 2006, is safe; it has been removed and stored because of the Main Street reconstruction, according to Brighton Det. Mike Arntz.
Street construction is expected to last about a year.
