Michigan offers $65M for rec projects; only one taker so far

A difficult process for local units of government to apply for grants that would increase recreational activities could be discouraging applicants. Hundreds of Spark Grant program applications have been started but only one submitted. The state received $65 million from the federal American Rescue Plan Act to help communities create public recreational opportunities and renovate existing recreational facilities.
