Virtual Workshop: Elizabeth Ellis – “Prepare to Scare”
7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24
Scary stories are among the most popular with listeners. Join us for an examination of them. What are they really about? Why would we want to tell them? Are they appropriate for children? Where will we find the best ones to share? How can we tell them most effectively? Attend if you dare! This virtual workshop is free. Register for the Zoom link here: http://tiny.cc/EllisScaryStories
Virtual Workshop: Sarah Abusarar – Storytelling as a Tool for Social Transformation through the Lens of Kalila wa Dimna Fables
4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26
This interactive workshop will use the ancient Kalila wa Dimna, fables of animals speaking truth, to explore the role storytelling can play in social transformation. These fables carried their roots from ancient India into Persia, the Arab world, and Europe. We will use our modern reality to analyze these ancient tales and how they apply to our current political and social times. Kalila wa Dimna fables will be used to stimulate conversation about our role as artists in response to today’s world issues. This virtual workshop is free.
