Join CTH for a thrill ride of mystery and adventure aboard the famous Orient Express as it journeys through the snow-capped mountains of Eastern Europe, when, just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks; in the morning an American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to stop the murderer – in case they decide to strike again.
From now until opening night, we’ll be introducing you to members of the cast. In today’s story, we meet Gloria Towns of Fowlerville. She’s retired, “so I have plenty of time for traveling, drawing, crafting, and, most importantly, friends, kids and grandkids.”
How did you first become involved with CTH? How many shows have you been involved with?
I first became involved with CTH in 2012, after I retired. Since then, I’ve been involved in eight plays and several radio shows.
What do you like most about being involved with CTH?
I really enjoy spending time with people who love theatre as much as I do. I get to meet new people with each show and hang out with old friends as well. I also enjoy the challenge of learning lines and developing the character. It’s fun to watch a show morph from a bunch of people stumbling around the stage with their heads buried in their scripts to a top-notch production on opening night.
What do you like about the show “Murder on the Orient Express?”
Murder on the Orient Express is fun because of all the diverse characters. The audience never knows what to expect each time a new actor walks on stage. And I love murder mysteries!
Tell us about your role in the show and why you like it?
My character, Helen Hubbard, is an American from Minnesota, but don’t let those Midwestern roots fool you. She is worldly, outgoing, outrageous, flirtatious, and, some might say, annoying – although I don’t know why.
What can the audience expect when they come to see the show?
Audiences should look forward to amazing sets, stunning lighting and effects, a cast of intriguing characters, and a great murder mystery on board the Orient Express!
