Join CTH for a thrill ride of mystery and adventure aboard the famous Orient Express as it journeys through the snow-capped mountains of Eastern Europe, when, just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks; in the morning an American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to stop the murderer – in case they decide to strike again.

From now until opening night, we’ll be introducing you to members of the cast.

In this story, we meet Cristian LaBar of Howell, an Occupational Therapist for the Early On program at Livingston Educational Service Agency She plays Mary Debenham.

Name: Cristian LaBar

How did you first become involved with CTH?

I wandered in off the street back in 2018 in search of a new hobby. Fun fact: I drove all the way there to audition, turned around and came back home. My husband told me to go back because otherwise I’d always wonder “what if…” So, thank you to Joshua!

How many shows have you been involved with?

So many – about as many as I could have fit in since 2018! I’ve done everything from Main Stage shows to Block Box, improv, and even assisted with the youth summer camp. Since I started at CTH, I’ve constantly been involved in helping to create something fun here!

What do you like most about being involved with CTH?

You’re always getting to meet and work with new people! I’ve built life-long friendships with so many individuals. CTH has also given me the opportunity to nurture my creativity and watch it blossom into a performance.

What do you like about the show “Murder on the Orient Express?”

The murder … what can I say, I love a good “whodunit” show. A little bit of mystery mixed with a little bit of a thriller, that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Tell us about your role in the show and why you like it?

Mary Debenham, a British governess, just doing some light traveling abroad. I love the role of Mary because she’s calm and collected, yet still manages to be quite elusive.

What can the audience expect when they come to see the show?

The audience can expect to come for the mystery, but enjoy the bits of comedy, love, and revenge.
