From being Tevye’s youngest daughter’s teacher to fighting as a revolutionary in Kiev, Sean Haaseth’s role of Perchik in “Fiddler on the Roof” offers a new radical perspective of tradition to the village of Anatevka.

Sean, who is also involved in the Hartland Choir Program, values his participation in Hartland Drama Club as a chance to grow as a performer and an actor.

We caught up with Sean to find out more about his character and experience with “Fiddler on the Roof”:

Does this show’s universal message of tradition resonate with you? If so, how and why?

I resonate more with my character’s view than tradition; that not everything is set in stone, and that sometimes tradition should be broken.

How would you describe the hardships your character goes through? What have you learned from exploring these hardships within your character?

I would describe my character’s hardships as fighting alone. He’s all by himself in the world, trying to spread his revolutionary ideas. He is all alone until he meets Hodel. His struggle shows me how there will always be someone to help you, as long as you look.

What do you hope audiences will take away from this production?

I hope the audience will get a greater understanding of what life was like for the Jewish people of the time, and also get to experience an amazing story at the same time.

What is your theatre background? Did you get involved as a child, or is it more of a recent pursuit?

This is my first year participating in theater and my third show overall.

If you are a senior, what are your hopes and dreams for your future?

I plan on pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in college and I hope to have a successful performance career.

What will you remember most about your experience with this show?

I’ll remember how much the show improved my stage presence and my acting abilities, as well as the awesome soundtrack!

Why should folks come to see this production?

It’s a wonderful story, filled to the brim with funny, exciting, and tear-jerking moments alike! Not to mention, we’ve spent A LOT of time and money on this production.
