Hartland High School sophomore Jadyn Savage is focused on delivering an emotional message of family, tradition, and hardship. Now, the talented thespian brings her passion for theater to her role as Hodel, Tevye’s second oldest daughter, in Hartland Drama Club’s “Fiddler on the Roof.”
Jayden, the student producer for this production and a member of the Hartland High School Choir, embraces her character to tell this story of love and sacrifice which has helped her to grow as a performer.
We had the opportunity to talk with Jadyn about the message of “Fiddler on the Roof” and what her experience with this show has meant to her:

Does this show’s universal message of tradition resonate with you? If so, how and why?
This show’s universal message of tradition reminds me of how much we rely on structure to keep our lives in order, as well as how much change, or “non-traditional” things, throw us off balance.
How would you describe the hardships your character goes through? What have you learned from exploring these hardships within your character?
Hodel experiences violence inflicted by the Russian army in her village and experiences the man she loves moving away to fight for his beliefs. Exploring these hardships and emotions with my character has helped me realize why people make sacrifices for love and their family.
What do you hope audiences will take away from this production?
I hope audiences take away the importance of love and family that the story of “Fiddler on the Roof” delivers.
What is your theatre background? Did you get involved as a child, or is it more of a recent pursuit?
I started theatre in 8th grade, just a short three years ago.
What extracurriculars and/or clubs are you involved with in addition to Hartland Drama Club?
I am involved in Choir and Ballet.
What will you remember most about your experience with this show?
I will always remember the friendships and connections I have made in this show. This show has also really helped me find and fully embrace who I am as a person and a performer.
Why do you think folks should come to see this production?
People should come to see this production because we tell the story of “Fiddler on the Roof” like it hasn’t been told before! The audience will be smiling, laughing, and wiping tears during this wonderful show. We can’t wait to deliver this important story to an audience
