Addison Payne, 10, is a fifth-grader at Brighton’s Maltby Intermediate School. This is her third show with Hartland Players/Encore, having been Sally in “Charlie Brown Christmas” and a chimney sweep in “Mary Poppins Jr.” She has also been in numerous plays through Brighton Area Schools in the last five years. She is thrilled to be performing in her first leading role!
How did you get involved with the Hartland Players and what shows have you been involved with in the past? What are some of your favorite roles from the past, either with the Hartland Players or other groups?
I got involved with the Hartland Players last summer when I took an acting camp. It was so much fun. I then ended up trying out for “Charlie Brown Christmas” and earned the role of Sally. In the spring I tried out for “Mary Poppins Jr.” through Hartland and was a chimney sweep/ensemble/bank clerk. My favorite role so far has been working on “Annie.”
What do you most enjoy about doing shows with the Hartland Players?
I have met so many new friends! It has been so fun learning more about acting and musical theatre. It has also been great to have the opportunity to be on stage!
What’s been your favorite part of the “”Annie”” experience?
My favorite part is all of the nice new friends I’ve met, and I’ve learned so much from the directors/producer, and choreographer. It was also fun to learn more tap dancing, and also dyeing my hair red for this role.
What can audience members expect when they see the show?
They can expect to see an amazing set, fun dance numbers, a cute wooly dog playing Sandy, and great actors. I hope everyone enjoys the show, we have worked so hard!
