The 17th-annual Matching Money Monday event on Dec. 9 raised about $330,000 for the Livingston County United Way.

“We can’t say thank you enough to all our friends here in Livingston County,” said Carrie Newstead, executive director of the Livingston County United Way. “You’re truly helping to change lives for area residents who are working, yet struggling to meet their most basic needs.”

Every penny raised from the event will go toward local basic need programs to help families with food, shelter, utilities and more in the upcoming year. The funds raised will be part of the community investments process that takes place mid-April, with community leaders coming together to review funding applications, financial reports and stats from area agencies to determine the best use of the donated dollars.

While Matching Money Monday has passed, Livingston County United Way is still accepting year-end donations. Anyone interested in contributing can call the LCUW at (810) 494-3000, or visit www.lcunitedway.org.
