Sharing is caring!

The David Murningham Marine Corps League Detachment 161 is hosting a dinner celebrating the 249th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps on Nov. 8 at Crystal Gardens, 5768 E Grand River Ave, Howell; it is open to all Marines, all veterans of Livingston County, and the public.

The detachment is seeking donations for the event. For a donation of $300, you will get a complete table sponsorship, and your name, business or group will be prominently displayed on the table, and you will also receive 2 tickets to the dinner.  You could also provide an individual financial donation, or merchandise, gift certificates or service for door prizes and silent auctions.  Donations are tax deductible, and you will be given an official receipt.

All funds raised allow the detachment to continue the good works in the community such as purchasing flags to celebrate Flag Day in June, supporting veterans at the VA hospital, and supporting our community by participating in Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Armed Forces Day. In addition, our honor guard renders military honors at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Mich., and to local fallen veterans in Livingston County.

The Marine Corps League is a non-profit, federally recognized veteran’s organization. The David Murningham Detachment was established June 26, 1984, and is headquartered within the American Legion Hall at 3265 W. Grand River Ave. in Howell.

All donations will be appreciated. If making a financial donation, make checks payable to: Marine Corps League Detachment 161, and in the memo write: MCL Ball. Checks should be addressed to MCL and dropped off at the American Legion Hall in Howell, or mailed to the American Legion Hall at 3265 W. Grand River Ave. in Howell. Donations of products, gift certificates can be dropped off, or you can call (517) 546-2534 to arrange a pick up.
