Marine Corps League installs new officers

The David Murningham Marine Corps League Detachment 161 in Howell has installed its new officers for 2024 to 2025. The following positions were filled: Commandant — Ed Lorenz (Brighton); Senior Vice Commandant — Jeff Hinton (Fowlerville); Junior Vice Commandant — Bob Witt (Fowlerville); Judge Advocate — Anna Marie Colombo (Howell); Chaplin — Fred Koski (Brighton); Sergeant at Arms — Ron Brooks (Howell); Trustee First Year — Don Sucher (Brighton); Trustee Second Year — Steve Sheldon (Fowlerville); Trustee Third Year — James Thompson (Brighton)

The Howell Detachment continues good works in the community such as: purchasing flags to celebrate Flag Day in June; supporting Veterans at the VA hospital; supporting the community by participating in Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Armed Forces Day; and supporting the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. In addition, our Honor Guard renders Military Honors at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, and to local fallen veterans in Livingston County.

The Marine Corps League is a nonprofit, federally recognized veterans organization. The David Murningham Detachment was established June 26, 1984, and is headquartered within the American Legion Hall at 3265 W. Grand River Ave. in Howell. All Marines and FMF Navy are welcome to join. Meetings are at 7:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the American Legion Hall.
