She will serve the remainder of the current term, bringing her extensive experience and commitment to public education to the agency’s leadership.
A longtime Hartland resident and passionate advocate for education, Marcella-O’Leary holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. She recently retired after a distinguished 32-year career at General Motors’ Milford Proving Grounds, where she specialized in product development, focusing on noise and vibration and energy performance.
Marcella-O’Leary’s dedication to student success is evident in her belief that every learner is unique and capable of achieving their goals. She values the critical role educators and administrators play in providing students with the support, resources, and encouragement they need to thrive. Her commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment aligns with LESA’s mission to promote a culture of educational excellence for Livingston County through service, leadership, and collaboration.
Marcella-O’Leary and her husband, Michael, are proud parents of two adult sons, both graduates of Hartland Consolidated Schools.
Her deep roots in the community and passion for public education make her a valuable addition to the board.
“We are excited to welcome Lisa Marcella-O’Leary to the Board of Education,” said Dr. Michael Hubert, Superintendent of LESA. “Her leadership experience, professional background, and unwavering dedication to student success will undoubtedly benefit the agency and the students we serve.”
