The body of a man who went missing Saturday while swimming with his family on Lake Chemung was located by the Livingston County Dive Team at about 9:30 p.m.
According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday to Lake Chemung in Genoa Township for a reported drowning. The man, 70, was reported to have been swimming with his family when he went missing; he was not wearing a life jacket at the time.
The Livingston County Dive Team, using drones and sonar, found the body of the man in 33 feet of water and recovered it at 9:30 p.m.
The incident is under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Detective Bureau.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Brighton Area Fire Department, Howell Fire Department, Hamburg Township Police and Fire Departments, Livingston County EMS, D.A.R.T., and the Southeast Michigan Dive Group including the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.
