Dr. Daniel Paternoster, a longtime veterinarian at the Fowlerville Veterinary Clinic, died early this morning after an eight-year battle with cancer. His death was confirmed on family members’ Facebook pages. He was 63.

Paternoster was well-known in Fowlerville both for his work as a vet and through his many community involvements, including the Community Theatre of Howell and their church. Paternoster and his wife, Nancy, have two daughters, Rachel and Sarah.

According to a 1998 article in the Livingston County Press, Paternoster grew up in Africa as the son of two Christian missionaries, and served as a missionary himself from 1988 to 1991, performing veterinary work and providing ministerial services. The family moved to Fowlerville in 1991 and it’s been their home ever since.
