This week, high school juniors and seniors across the county will participate in the Livingston Educational Service Agency (Livingston ESA) Career Development Department’s Liv Co Job Shadow Days.

Twice each year, Liv Co Job Shadow Days takes students’ learning outside the classroom’s four walls and connects them with local employers.  Students spend a “day in the life” of professionals in different career paths, from business management to speech pathologists to robotics technicians.

Over 260 students and 85 businesses from Livingston County have participated in the event, offering students insight into different industries, career paths, and skills that employers value and area businesses with the opportunity to help nurture their future workforce.

“We are so appreciative of our incredible industry partners and what they do so that our students can experience possible career paths, said Michelle Radcliffe, executive director for career development at Livingston ESA. “It’s exciting to learn of the connections made for both students and businesses!”

“We are so excited about the enthusiasm surrounding Liv Co Job Shadow Days, both from students and employers, said Laura Saline, career and college readiness coordinator for Livingston ESA. “This is our biggest Job Shadow Day event, with over 325 shadowing opportunities available to students! It is an awesome opportunity for students to network and make connections in our community. We appreciate the employers’ generosity of time and investment in our students.”

The Career and College Readiness program is part of Livingston ESA’s Career Development department and works collaboratively with various community sectors toward a common goal. We are continually forming partnerships with employers, higher education, government, and youth-serving entities to align strategies and create a strong, educated, and adaptable workforce in Livingston County.
