Livingston Classical Academy (LCA) has been recognized as a Hillsdale College K-12 Curriculum School, marking a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to providing a rigorous, content-rich classical education.
This recognition reflects a shared dedication between Livingston Classical Academy and Hillsdale College to an educational model that forms both the mind and character of each student, according to a release. The Hillsdale K-12 Curriculum is rooted in the classical tradition and emphasizes the pursuit of truth, beauty, and goodness through a coherent, well-ordered sequence of knowledge.
“Becoming a Hillsdale College K-12 Curriculum School will greatly enhance our teachers’ ability to deliver a thoughtful, content-rich education that shapes both intellect and character,” said Mark Signorelli, principal of Livingston Classical Academy. “This curriculum strengthens our classrooms and ensures our students will engage deeply with great books, develop strong foundations in literacy and math, and encounter a robust study of history and civics.”
Furthermore, teachers will be part of a nationwide network of classical educators dedicated to excellence in teaching and the shaping of young people’s character. With this, students will engage deeply with literature, history, science, mathematics, and the arts in a way that builds understanding year over year, rather than fragmented learning. Instruction remains teacher-led and knowledge-based, intentionally designed to cultivate wisdom, virtue, and a lifelong love of learning.
“As a tuition-free public charter school, Livingston Classical Academy is demonstrating how classical education can thrive while remaining accessible to all families,” said Kurt Naber, superintendent of LCA. “This recognition reflects a strong commitment to academic excellence, coherence across grade levels, and the formation of students who are prepared to lead lives of purpose and service.”
Families and community members are invited to an upcoming Informational Hour at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Livingston Classical Academy, 8877 Main Street, Whitmore Lake, to learn more about the future of classical education at LCA.
