LETTER: Veterans deserve full spectrum of medical care

Sharing is caring!

When a person serves in our military, we make a promise to care for them when they come home. A proposed policy change by the Trump administration would break that promise.

Following the Dobbs decision, the VA ensured our veterans would not be abandoned, guaranteeing access to abortion services in tragic circumstances like rape, incest, or life-threatening pregnancies. This was a necessary step to provide a uniform standard of care to those who served.

The effort to rescind this rule is a cruel political maneuver that targets our veterans. Banning abortion counseling and care at the VA would deny essential healthcare to people who rely on it. This isn’t a political game; it’s about the health, safety, and dignity of our veterans. Upholding our promise to them means protecting their access to the full spectrum of medical care.
