The current administration’s actions are a clear and present danger to our democracy, demonstrating a determination to undermine the 2026 midterms.
The President recently pardoned top MAGA allies who aided his bid to subvert the 2020 election. He has also stacked his administration with election deniers who are overseeing the midterms and dismantling systems meant to secure voting. These efforts include attempts to restrict mail-in voting and deploy federal forces, which California Gov. Gavin Newsom called an “intimidation tactic meant for one thing: Suppress the vote.”
Now, Republicans in Congress are pushing the SAVE Act, a devastating voter suppression bill. This bill would require voters to prove citizenship with documents like a birth certificate or passport, documents that 21 million eligible voters do not have readily available. This measure, fueled by far-right propaganda, is a direct attack on the right to vote.
The House has passed the SAVE Act. The Senate must now act. I urge our U.S. Senators to oppose the SAVE Act and block all attempts to steal the 2026 midterms. We must protect free and fair elections now.
